Intense Colour

There is colour in the garden, and then there is intense colour – deep, saturated, shocking colour that puts you in awe.   As the summer heat presses in, the garden explodes, and new jolts of colour unfold: a precious delphinium in indigo, a vivacious painted daisy, a neon pink rose, a begonia in glowing coral.  An asiatic lily is fierce in zesty orange.  A simple petunia takes purple to the extreme.  A cluster of mini roses electrifies in red.  Can these compete with the favourite scarlet poppy with its dark chocolate powder center?  Can any one bloom be the champion of vivacious colour?
