At a dinner party on the weekend, a gentleman that moved to Toronto over 10 yrs ago, told me this had been the toughest winter so far - not the coldest, not the snowiest, but the toughest. I think it was the combination of cold, snow, ice and this late cool spring. That tough winter makes me delight even more in buds budding and spring flowers blooming. Daffodils, hyacinth, late crocus, early tulips, pasque flower, heather, hellebore, and forsythia are all blooming in the Purple Potting Shed garden right now. And today seeds of peas, lettuce, arugula, beets, carrots, and radishes got planted in the veggie garden. I walk into the early spring garden and feel its spirit wash over me - eyes closed, deep breath, and a big grin. This is the feeling you wait and work so hard for, and in spring it’s everywhere. So walk into your garden, or a community garden, just find a spring garden and breathe it in!
